About the Event:
Take the opportunity to gather your family and friends and come along to the club for the day.
Our annual Leidens Ontzet Luncheon is a wonderful opportunity for everyone who is part of Brisbane’s Dutch community to celebrate and honour their heritage.
A significant event on the Netherlands annual calendar, Leidens Ontzet (Relief of Leiden) commemorates the Spanish siege and subsequent relief of the city in 1574. To honour the liberation of Leiden on 3 October 1574, the day itself was declared an official city holiday in 1886.
Leidens Ontzet is celebrated with a variety of activities and events that take place in the days leading up to October 3rd. The traditional meal associated with the celebration is Hutspot (meat, potatoes, carrots and onion) and Haring en wittebrood (herring with white bread).
We invite you, your family and friends to join us for lunch to honour and celebrate the occasion.
Your choice of either
- Hutspot (potatoes, carrots, onion and meat) or
- Haring en Wittebrood. (herring with white bread)
Adequate free parking onsite at this venue.
